Heat Pumps Ground Source  Air Source

At UPUK we offer heat pump options on all our projects. The heat pumps that we offer are: ground source and air source.

The air source heat pump absorbs heat from the outside air into a liquid refrigerant at a low temperature. Using electricity, the pump compresses the liquid to increase its temperature.

Ground Source Heat Pumps use pipes in horizontal trenches or vertical boreholes. A brine/glycol mixture of water and anti-freeze is contained in these pipes (or loops). This circulates through the pipes, absorbing heat from the ground before entering the refrigeration cycle. The expansion and compression refrigeration cycle boosts the temperature of the water in the heating system.

Benefits:

  • Lower running costs
  • Less maintenance
  • Safer than other combustion-based systems.
  • Provide both heating and cooling
  • RHI payments from the government
  • Reduced bills
  • Property value increase.
